African Jazz - Authenticité Volume 5 (African 360 107)

First of all: Happy birthday Guppy, I wish all the best. I don't know if you like this kind of music. It's very good music in my eyes.

As far as I can see, this number of the African series is not jet among the ones we find (better: found?) around here. It's a collection of numbers credited to Kalle, Mujos, Rochereau and one to Nico & Kalle, originally released from 1963 to 1965, and compiled here in 1984.

Enjoy!

Orchestre Élégance Jazz (African 90.803)

Heads up and on we go - hopefully and with thanks to GG and all the others.

This is a lesser known Orchestra from Congo's early 1970s. Élégance Jazz was led by Baderemos (or only assembld to record his songs). The sides all appeared on the Meke Meke label.

This is the last single by him I was able to identify (there are 5 more, see my Wiki here) all (re-)issued on African, - there are more numbers of the Meke label (here we already have No. 21).

Please enjoy! I really love side 2.

African Hits Vol. 1

Today I start to post a small series of tapes called "African Hits", which appeared on the Rwandan market during the 1980s. I don't know where they came from (probably Kenya?). But they were the only chance to get music from then Zaire.

Maybe one of my readers has seen such a tape (I have vols 1 to 7) and can add information about them, e.g. where they have seen them, who compiled them, where they were produced ..., was there another vol. above no. 7, etc.?

The quality varies but is partly quite good. It's definitely good for a Saturdaynight! So please enjoy!

Tracks are:
Side One:
1. Le téléphone sonne (Souzy Kasseya)
2. Yo yo yo (Asi Kapela)
3. Dédé Priscila (Lea Lignanzi)
4. Ma Coco (Lubadika Porthos)
Side Two:
1. Mariage forcé (Bopol Mansiamina)
2. Affaires du coeur (Pamelo Mounk'a)
3. Chérie Maguy (Fidèle Zizi)
4. L'argent appelle l'argent (Freddy Kebano), instrumental version

Winston Groovy - Nightshift (Jive 12")

Here is something to relax and remember great names on a pop reggae tune from 1985 UK. Some more African music will follow soon.

Enjoy!

Orchestre O.K. Jazz - Nakosala Nakolota (African 90.318)

New year is 2 weeks old; I fight against time but wanted to show that I'm still alive. I wish you all the best ...
When I prepared this I realised that WorldService already shared this single with more information about the composer of both tracks, Vicky, his relation to Franco and OK Jazz. My copy is also not the very best (for decliquers use the wav file I've added this time). My copy comes with another cover: I ask myself for what kind of client they put the music into this kind of picture?
Enjoy!
