Mbongeni Ngema - Time To Unite

My tiny contribution to the world of South African music shared may be followed by this album by Mbongeni Ngema recorded in the US while Sarafina! was shown in New York. It was in the wake of Paul Simon's hugh "Graceland" success, when Warner released records by Miriam Makeba and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

I couldn't find this one commercially available, so I decided to share it with you. Enjoy!

  1. Thanks for this great recording! I thought I had it in hard copy, but no. . . Cheers from greening Alaska!

  2. I have this on vinyl. With Margaret Thatcher's passing, I was thinking of the lyrics to "Time to Unite." As the US folk singer Utah Phillips said, "The long memory is the most radical idea in America."
